Introduction

This course gives participants an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals for improving efficiencies at airports with an emphasis on increasing capacity without the need for significant investment in infrastructure. It aims to improve communications between all stakeholders at an airport and examines each of the key elements which contribute to an airport’s efficiency, namely landside, terminal, airside and airspace.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts of capacity within the key areas of an airport, including landside, passenger and aircraft movements
  • Discuss the importance of accurate scheduling and slot management when dealing with high-volume events
  • Discuss the benefits of accurate shared date and consequences of uncoordinated information streams and its effects across the entire airport
  • Apply knowledge to undertake resource planning
  • Explain the significance of resource planning from the airport company's perspective
  • Explain how ground handling resource planning is performed and its potential impact on service levels and safety
  • Discuss the positive benefits of accurate shared data
