Introduction

Aerodromes are complex structures, both from a physical and regulatory point of view. Several entities must interact and cooperate on the aerodrome and within the Competent Authority.

Consequently, the focus is on the regulatory structures and the requirements' principles, concepts, and purposes, without getting lost in the details.

The need for a Total System Approach to aerodrome safety regulations is emphasized and examples are provided.
