Introduction
Aircrew Regulation allows for FSTD Operators to apply for an Extended Evaluation Programme; this means that the Competent Authority may extend the evaluation period up to 36 months, in stead of 12 months. To achieve such extension the operator must have a robust CMS and implement a process to self evaluate their own devices.
This course explains such a process which mirrors the process followed by Compentent Authorities when performing recurrent evaluations, although it does have some differences.
Course Content
This course explains such processes to obtain evaluation extensions using standards and procedures followed by Compentent Authorities performing recurrent evaluations. Some variations apply.
The training will incorporate content from FSTD evaluation courses for operators, more specifically regulation on extended evaluation ORA.FSTD.225(b).
This course will be delivered in 3 Units:
- Regulatory guidelines and requirements
- Specific Evaluation procedures and reports
- Objective and subjective tests analysis
Activities include development of checklists, process, reports and MQTG analysis.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course you will be able to:
- Understand and Apply Extended Evaluation Methods: Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles and methodologies used in extended evaluations for flight simulation training devices (FSTDs) and will be able to apply these methods to assess and enhance the performance of FSTDs effectively.
- Analyze Evaluation Results: Learners will develop the skills to critically analyze evaluation results, identify discrepancies or areas for improvement, and use this analysis to make informed recommendations for optimizing the training effectiveness of FSTDs.
- Implement Best Practices in Evaluation Processes: Learners will be equipped with knowledge of industry best practices for conducting extended evaluations, including planning, execution, and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and improving overall training quality.
Who should take this course
This training is ideal for FSTD Operators and ATOs operating FSTDs. Staff include simulator technicians, technical managers/instructors, flight instructors, compliance and safety managers, and auditors.
Note: For successful self-evaluation and extension approval, Sufficient knowledge regards to QTG reruns and fly-outs should be available within the operators organisation.
Pre-requisites
Organisations and staff currently working on a FSTD operation including simulator technicians, technical managers, flight instructors with CS-FSTD knowledge and FSTD operational experience.
Duration
3 Days: 09:00 – 17:00 hrs.
