The JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO) is looking for a professional and motivated Learning & Course Development Representative to join its professional, enthusiastic and ambitious Course Development Unit (CDU).

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside four other colleagues in an international dynamic working environment, carrying out the work and projects of a small department, learn all its processes and procedures, and further develop it into an efficient well-functioning unit. 

The CDU is currently a small department, comprising the Manager of the Course Development Unit and three Learning & Course Development Representatives and Executives, operating under the supervision of the Director of Business Solutions & Strategic Partnerships. More than 80 qualified external instructors and subject matter experts (SME’s) are freelancers dealing with the CDU on a regular basis. Therefore, in order to help strengthen this department, the new professional will be required to assume a variety of responsibilities which range from simple administration of daily activities (such as answering calls and emails), to preparation/review/configuration/distribution of course materials, to liaison with course instructors and trainees, up to course maintenance and supporting course development and project management.

As the CDU continues to grow, this role presents an excellent opportunity for personal and professional development. Due to the essential internal training and development processes, applicants for this position should be seeking a long-term role and demonstrate a strong interest in developing their skills in Competency-Based Training & Assessment (CBTA).

This position involves specialised training and certifications that require significant investment; therefore, a strong commitment to the role is expected.

The Learning & Course Development Representative will be fulfilling the tasks in accordance with the JAA TO Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) methodology, based on the ADDIE model. This includes ensuring that learning objectives, instructional strategies, assessments, and delivery methods are coherently aligned with regulatory requirements, while effectively integrating and structuring content provided by subject matter experts into a compliant, learner-centred training program.

Job Description

Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate effectively and efficiently the maintenance and revision of training courses according to the JAA TO CBTA methodology and guidelines. JAA TO portfolio is both classroom courses and self-paced eLearning.
  • Review of course content and materials as part of ongoing training course maintenance and updates, delivered by the SME’s/instructors. This includes revising existing content, providing improvement suggestions, and ideas for developing interactive, engaging learning activities.
  • Format e-examinations in Moodle and liaise with Training Operations team for interfacing with the trainee registration system.
  • Prepare and secure digital course material and store in the company’s systems; ready to be available to the trainees.
  • Manage the email boxes: answer and coordinate incoming emails/queries daily; keep up the communication needed with instructors, trainees and colleagues of other departments.
  • Contribute to improving the overall internal procedures of CDU.
  • Work efficiently and optimally internally, and with the external course instructors and SME’s, ensuring their timely input as per project plans/deadlines.
  • Report departmental updates (e.g. during staff meetings, for monthly reports etc.) as needed.
  • Support the version management of the learning & knowledge solutions, in close co-operation with the Manager Course Development.
  • Support, when needed, the new course development.
  • When needed, be the backup for other CDU colleagues.

Your profile

  • Minimum University Degree (international Bachelor’s degree), preferably on subjects related to education, learning/teaching, instructional design, competency-based training & assessment, IT/eLearning.
  • At least 1-3 years’ proven experience in an educational environment, including day-to-day course design and development.
  • Experience with the CBTA / ADDIE-methodology is a must.
  • Practical knowledge and experience of Articulate Storyline is a must.
  • Technical experience with the eLearning Moodle platform is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken. Dutch fluency is highly preferred.
  • Prior working experience in the aviation environment is a preference.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work without the risk of quality deterioration.

  • Year-end bonus plan (conditions apply)
