FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Schiphol-Rijk, The Netherlands. November 23, 2021. – The JAA TO Foundation Board visits the Dutch headquarters in Schiphol-Rijk and meets with Director Mrs. Paula V. de Almeida Med, discussing the organisation's strategy for 2022. The annual meeting of Director and Foundation Board Chair Dr. Alessio Quaranta (Director General Civil Aviation Authority Italy; ENAC) and Member Mr. Jaco Stremler (Director General of Civil Aviation Authority Netherlands; MinIenW) is held in hybrid mode with Member Mrs. Mirjana Čizmarov (Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Serbia) joining virtually. The floor is later open to meet management and staff.
Reviewing the business development and viability during the corona-related challenging months, Director and Foundation Board are discussing JAA TO’s strategy for 2022 and beyond. The landscape in aviation training and facilitation is changing in reaction to the ongoing pandemic as well as new technologies and digital solutions. Aware of these circumstances, JAA TO strengthens its business scope.
In a special appreciation presentation, Director Almeida thanks the Chair for his year-long leadership and representation. Having recently resigned after eight years in the position of Foundation Board Chair due to his capacity as European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) President, Dr. Quaranta is continuing this function as interim until the next Chair is appointed.
Presumably, on his last physical visit to JAA TO as Chair, Dr. Quaranta comments: “Since my last visit to JAA TO in 2019 [virtual meeting in 2020 due to COVID-19, N.E.], the aviation world has changed. So has this organsiation and its Board, today I see many new faces and new training solutions. Despite the challenges, JAA TO is one of the few to continue its activities and by doing so accomplishes a very important mission that proofs vital to our sector. I want to thank Paula and all of you for this job well done! I appreciate this physical meeting to say goodbye as this will be my last physical Board meeting as Chair of the Foundation Board.”
Dr. Quaranta then passes the floor to Jaco Stremler, who highlights the organisation’s recent successes: “As acting Director General of the Netherlands, it is an honour to serve on this Board alongside Alessio and Mirjana and the soon to be elected new Member. Today I gained lots of insights into the JAA TO and I am impressed by the organisation’s efficiency and business acumen that enabled these results! I am looking forward to working with all of you, thank you.“
Dr. Quaranta passes the floor to Mrs. Čizmarov, who joins virtually from Serbia. Elected as Foundation Board Member in early November, JAA TO highly values Mrs. Čizmarov who is the first female Board Member in the history of the organisation. After being welcomed by all attendees, Mrs. Čizmarov comments: “I extend my appreciation to the interim Chair, Alessio, who led by example and has paved the way for his successor. I am confident that the new Board and JAA TO will continue their track and enable aviation professionals globally. Thank you.”
On behalf of the JAA TO, Director Almeida gifts a symbolic present to Dr. Quaranta: “Speaking for the organisation, I want to extend my gratitude and appreciation for committing to the position of Foundation Board Chair and always serving with great leadership. In an unusually long term, JAA TO considers itself privileged to have had such stability and guidance through which the organisation could grow, adapt and further professionalise to meet today’s aviation training demands.”
The JAA TO Foundation Board is charged with the management of the organisation. Members of the Board are appointed by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and its Coordinating Committee (CC) and are nominated from amongst the Director Generals of ECAC.
