JAA TO is awarded ICAO TPP Platinum Membership
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Schiphol-Rijk, The Netherlands. 23 March 2022 – In March 2022, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recognises JAA TO as one of the few new Platinum Training Centre of Excellence TRAINAIR PLUS Programme (TPP) Members in the world. With this status achievement, which is valid for the next three years, JAA TO is one of four TCEs globally, the only TCE in Europe, joining ICAO, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT, Nigeria), East African School of Aviation (EASA, Kenya) and Center for Human Resources Development on Civil Aviation (Indonesia).
With the newly launched TPP membership credit framework, ICAO’s Global Aviation Training (GAT) transforms its membership levels recognising TPP members based on activities and network collaboration. This performance-based membership prioritises course deliveries and emphasises the implementation of training intelligence tools ultimately seeking to create incentives and benefits to engage members more and enhance TPP network collaboration. Using so-called training miles, the new framework allows TPP members for more flexible budgeting of training activities at optimised costs provided the TPP member remains engaged in the network.
JAA TO’s status as Platinum TPP Member comes after earning around twice as much training miles (in 2021) as required and solidifies the organisation’s vision for global training excellence. In the Platinum level, JAA TO acts as an active TPP member conducting extensive activities (training, development of ICAO Training Packages (ITPs) / Standardizes Training packages (STPs) etc.), supporting capacity-building efforts and effectively assisting Member States in the implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
A long-term advocate of the TPP for harmonised training efforts, JAA TO Director Paula V. de Almeida, MEd, comments: “Receiving this ICAO TCE recognition is a great milestone for the organisation and testimony to our dedicated work with and for TPP Members as well as the aviation community worldwide. JAA TO is an active TPP ambassador that fosters the spirit of leadership and cooperation for a safe and secure air transport sector. Further, as TRAINAIR PLUS Steering Committee Chair, JAA TO engages TPP members in the facilitation of aviation safety training and advises ICAO GAT on further training initiatives. With the new branding to our name, JAA TO continues to capacitate aviation professionals and organisations globally.”
Dr. Alessio Quaranta, Chairman of the JAA TO Foundation Board congratulates on the recognition: “Receiving the new Platinum TPP Member recognition is great news for the JAA TO. Being able to repeatedly perform in accordance with ICAO’s highest requirements shows how successful and skilled the organisation is in the facilitation of ICAO training and development. I congratulate the entire organisation on reaching this exceptional endorsement.”
Member of the Board, Mr. Jaco Stremler, highlights the historic relationship: “JAA TO’s ten-year-long full membership in the TPP network is characterised through productive and result-oriented relations between the programme’s stakeholders. The ICAO recognition awards this professional commitment to the TPP network and aviation community at large.”
Member of the Board, Mrs. Mirjana Čizmarov notes: “From the aspiration to facilitate and deliver training excellence, the new ICAO emblem validates JAA TO’s work and training culture of promoting and performing ICAO training activities globally. JAA TO’s responsibility and engagement in the TPP path the ways for continuous training harmonisation and aviation safety.”
