JAA TO Director appointed as new Chair of ICAO TPSC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Schiphol-Rijk, The Netherlands. December 21, 2020.

In a special year for aviation, JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO) is pleased to announce that it will continue its membership in the ICAO TRAINAIR Plus Steering Committee (TPSC) for the upcoming term 2021 – 2024.

JAA TO thanks all TRAINAIR Plus Program (TPP) members for their active support and highly appreciates their confidence in the JAA TO vision and values pertaining to the TPP, the TPSC, ICAO’s Global Aviation Training (GAT) unit.

Further, JAA TO Director Paula V. de Almeida has been appointed as the new TSPC Chair who will be steering the committee for the next three years along with first Vice-Chair Ahmed Hoummady (LCCTC) and second Vice-Chair André Rebouças (ANAC Brazil).

JAA TO Director Almeida on the appointment: “I am extremely honored for this election and grateful to those who have supported my candidacy. JAA TO joined the TRAINAIR Plus Program (TPP) from its creation back in 2011, and as such has experienced not only all stages, modalities and milestones of the Programme, but also all challenges the members (can) go through during the various phases (from the rigorous assessment phase to the complex development of joint-ITPs with ICAO). As such, JAA TO stays active as ambassador of – and true believer in – the merits of the Programme.

I embrace with honor the chairmanship of the TPSC and my mission will focus on being the best advocate the TPSC needs, and striving towards elimination of major challenges in becoming and remaining a member in the TPP – but of course also in ensuring its objectives are achieved with success for both members and the Global Aviation Training unit.

I will take the time needed to administer the TPSC properly and with care, and ensure to listen to each member’s views, comments, concerns, suggestions, and ideas. Looking up to – ultimately –harmonization and standardization of high-quality competency-based training worldwide. The composition of the current TPSC is top-level: very experienced, prestigious organisations with committed professionals. Therefore, I am confident that this Committee has a huge potential for marking the TPP history as the implementer of fantastic enduring milestones!”

Dr. Alessio Quaranta, Chairman of the JAA TO Foundation Board on the TPSC election: “Through successful reelection JAA TO is able to continue its engagement in the ICAO GAT and TPSC which will benefit the global TRAINAIR Plus network. By chairing the Committee, the organisation fulfils a responsibility that enables it to realise its vision and mission.”

JAA TO Foundation Board Member Mr. Luís Miguel Ribeiro on the role JAA TO can play in further consolidating aviation safety culture: “With the foundation of ICAO GAT, training harmonisation across the world is further improved. As pro-active actor in the TPSC, now also Chair, JAA TO can effectively engage global members and partners in facilitation of aviation safety training. As such, JAA TO acts as a trustful advisory to ICAO GAT.”

Especially in these unprecedented times for the air transport sector, a cooperative approach guides the restart of aviation. Together with fellow TPSC Members, JAA TO is looking forward to promoting sustainable contributions to the Programme and TPP community, as well as the global air transport system and capacitate aviation professionals globally.

First item on the agenda is a virtual meeting with the newly composed TPSC in January 2021.
