Introduction

In Aviation, organisations are required to be prepared for the unexpected and the unthinkable. To be prepared means to know how to deal with an accident and all its consequences, for the sake of everybody involved. Ultimately, this is extremely important for the organisation itself, in order to guarantee business continuity at the least possible cost and effort.

Course Content

The following subjects will be addressed:

  • What can be seen as an emergency?
  • What can be seen as a crisis?
  • Why create an ERP?
  • Steps in the planning process
  • Exercise 1: ground collision with limited damage
  • Exercise 2: ground collision with severe damage
  • Role of media and communication department
  • Presentation of problem in a terminal
  • Exercise 3: runway overrun
  • Identification of personnel requirements
  • Identification of passenger requirements
  • Identification of the tasks at the home base of an airline
  • Identification of the tasks at an out-station
  • Situation room and call center
  • Real life cases are presented as learning experience

Learning Objectives

 After completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe your company responsibilities within the regulatory framework governing crisis management
  • Complete a crisis risk analysis
  • Describe the stages in the planning required for effective crisis management and recovery
  • Implement an Emergency Response Plan
  • Identify the skills required is a crisis management team
  • Understand the relationship between SMS and ERP

Who should take this course

This two day ERP Workshop is aimed at operators who are actually in the process of designing an ERP, the actual plan. The workshop is directed towards several layers of staff within an airline that are related to emergency responses: Higher management, Emergency response managers, Operations Control Centre, Communication department, IT department, Legal department, Financial department, and so on.
