International Conference “Training and Education: need of cooperation between all stakeholders to satisfy the needs of air transport”
Today, the International Conference “Training and Education: need of cooperation between all stakeholders to satisfy the needs of air transport” started, in Cyprus. Organised by EATEO (the European Association of Aviation Training and Education Organisations), in cooperation with the JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO) and the Flight Safety Foundation Mediterranean (FSF-MED), the conference received more than 100 participants from several states.
The President of JAA TO’s Foundation Board, Mr. Quaranta, opened the conference.
JAA TO’s Executive Assistant and HR focal point, Ms. Mellema, delivered the welcoming speech, on behalf of the JAA TO Director, Mrs. Almeida.
At the end of the afternoon, the JAA TO Business Developer and Strategist, Eric Schoonderwoerd, spoke during SESSION FOUR, entitled “Developing the training regulations - Are they based on real needs? - Should the aviation industry and training institutions be more involved?”.
According to Eric, JAA TO’s view is that the market need to pay attention to training professionals on how to behave in practice, instead of just teach regulations in theory. “That is something instructors constantly strive to reach at JAA TO”, says Mr. Schoonderwoerd.
“What does a regulation mean in practice? How to translate the knowledge acquired in the classroom to the working place? And how to transform individual knowledge on organisation knowledge?”, he explains, mentioning some of the issues. The conclusion of the event today was that it is necessary to focus more on the competences.
