JAA TO closes office for the remainder of 2020 due to COVID-19. All training activities will be delivered virtually.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Schiphol-Rijk, The Netherlands. October 21, 2020. In light of the rapid developments across Europe (second wave) and worldwide, the latest COVID-19 measures by the Dutch government prompt the JAA Training Organisation (JAA TO) in its decision to close its headquarters at Schiphol-Rijk for the remainder of the year with immediate effect. This means that all scheduled training courses originally scheduled to take place at the JAA TO training centre will be delivered virtually and registered trainees will be transferred to the next available virtual option.

The closure’s possible effects for the 2021 Training Schedule are currently under review and will be communicated in due time. Check the JAA TO website and social media regularly for updates or contact the JAA TO Training Department.

JAA TO regrets to inform about this deliberate decision. With the safety and well-being of all our stakeholders in mind this approach is an intervention in this pandemic situation where the local risk in the Netherlands of transmitting the virus seems greatest. The COVID-19 pandemic knows no borders and shows how fragile and vulnerable even the most resilient systems and societies are. “As training organisation of excellence with global scope, it is therefore also our moral obligation to protect all stakeholders around us and implement the fair share of universal precautions and promote safety first principles”, states Dr. Alessio Quaranta, President of the JAA TO Foundation Board.

The organisation’s ethical responsibility towards a united fight against COVID-19 supports the ever-new prospect – a society that has this virus under control. Such individual actions and choices amount to globally needed solutions. By eliminating risks and focusing on core business through virtual training, JAA TO initiates steps towards the premise to build back better the European aviation sector post-COVID-19. In this context, for the rest of this year, JAA TO moves forward with the strategic and sound vision to focus on virtual training only, delivering the highest quality aviation education with the extra JAA TO experience.

JAA TO Director Ms. Paula V. de Almeida, MEd, on the decision: “As a Dutch non-profit organisation and member of the local society we [are saddened by the pandemic rise and] acknowledge the current challenges the Netherlands is facing and the implications for business, travel and social life this pandemic has across Europe and the world. With the decision to provide virtual-only training until 2021 we can focus on building back better, recover effectively while protecting and delivering on our brand promise.”

Through instructor-led, competency-based virtual training, JAA TO will continue its mission to deliver highest quality solutions for capacitating aviation professionals and organisations globally. JAA TO would like to thank all stakeholders for their continued support and understanding. Stay healthy.
